Homework complete

Posted in Uncategorized on March 21, 2009 by nelsonrenegade

I asked you to miss an appointment yesterday, and said I would do the same. Well, I did follow through, and it went pretty well. I got involved in other things last night (to the point I missed NCAA games), and said “kiss my buttocks” to nightly news, CNN, and any other fear-monger for hire (journalists of major network shows). And guess what?

The sky did not fall; President Obama’s plans did not affect my evening; AIG bonuses did not destroy my life; and the local murder did not run me into my ‘bomb shelter’! I can not believe it!!!! How did this happen?

Easy… I still have financial problems. I still have little work. I still do not know where my utility money will come from. BUT, I got out, and related to my fellow neighbor… instead of letting Brian Williams spread ‘wisdom and calamity’ into my misery. The great thing that came about was… the feeling of being in a group. The people I talked to had the same issues, but were not paid to instill fear or raise ratings. They appreciated a smile, or a handshake, and knew we can make it through this… and the shade of gray is solely based on how hard you press with the crayon!

The world is great… not because of Madonna, or Derek Jeter, or Katie Couric… but because of YOU, and the fact you know this and can let  the idiots get paid to bring the world down… while we keep “getting it done”.

See you tomorrow,

Missed my appointment

So I fooled you… (not really), I got busy and forgot to write yesterday. Doesn’t mean I do not care, just needed to attend to ‘large circus clowns with wooden legs’ (aka: life’s general crap).

Missing our date brings me back to the business of Wednesday. The sheer anxiety of this present social climate provides for many tardy arrivals in my life, and I think that is a quality source of ‘the blues’. When the horse lays the pile, the aroma is at the peak level of strength.

As you face conflict in small situations, the mounting pressure of the sore environment around us can grow bushes into trees. If your mortgage is the primary concern, make sure to focus on what you can do to directly benefit the situation. Allowing anger over the AIG bonuses to cloud your sense of ‘fair’ will just cause you to drink. Sure, the company is abusing the trust of the people, and very well may have had a hand in cooking the financial ‘disaster stew’, and may even be worthy of a swift kick in the ass from Mrs. Karma herself. The fact is, not one ounce of anger you produce is going to pay your mortgage, provide for a raise, or magically reward you with a better position in life. Make a ‘to-do list’ for the future, that involves items you can sit around and bitch about after you make enough money to live on Taihiti beaches six months a year. Then we can discuss what to do to politicians and business brokers of shame.

You can apply this model to any news story, any personal relationship, or any event that “grinds your gears” (Family Guy, copywrite 2005.. take that, lawyers!). This behavior seems easy to do, but you need encouragement and practice to truly act on the notion.

What now? Try this small act today… one time during the day, just catch yourself when you are about to have a meltdown, and ask; “How will this anger help me, and what can I really do about this?” I’ll try it as well, and report back tomorrow.

One other item (just for today) – When it comes to watching the news tonight… miss your appointment.

One day at a time,

Growing is grand

Stepping away from something produces many emotions. The passing of a loved one…  a sidelining injury…  graduating  from school…  leaving a job… dropping  an abusive  boy/girlfriend:  all force one to step away from some piece of their desires, and face the question – “Can I be the hero, and accept the notion that maturity requires flowing with the fabric of CHANGE?”

“Hero?, you stupid putz… I’m leaving this blog, and finding someone serious about MY life crisis!”… fine, be gone with you and keep sailing the seas of frustration and lack of joy.

You there… that decided to stay. What makes you read on? (take a moment, a definite answer will help to reinforce your interior hero)

I assume you are not here because all is well, and you are bored with your beach experience in Taihiti, so you figured you would surf random blogs to gain insight to doubling your millions.

Your millions may not be in your bank account, but you do already possess them. Money can not be your ideal of success in times of anxiety and worry. The media is doing a great job of scaring everyone into the beginning of paranoia and depression… but this time of distress is nothing more than a cloak of CHANGE.

Where is your head? Why do you feel insecure? What road do you envision coming into focus for your near future? There are things in the world that are desperate… your mortgage is still due, your utilities are due, and money is still required for living; BUT, you have methods at your disposal to cope with the change.

Do not panic, take a deep breathe, and stay away from the things you can not control.

If your head is in the right place… growth can be great, even under the utmost of clouds and rain.

See you tomorrow,
